The Bridges House Kitchen

"Building Bridges"

We are very pleased to have been chosen to design and build the new kitchen for the historic Styles Bridges House. This classic brick house was built c.1835 and was donated to the State of NH by the family of long-time US Senator Styles Bridges in 1969. Although it is officially the New Hampshire Governor's Residence, it will serve many state functions and also be available to host local non-profit events. The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The new kitchen we created is just one part of a whole house project that added major improvements, including expanded function rooms, new bathrooms and ADA compliant access, all planned to be compatible with the historic elements of the building. In keeping with New Hampshire's tradition of government frugality, this ambitious project has been spearheaded by The Friends of Bridges House, Inc., a non-profit established to build support for the house.

The entire Bridges House renovation project is a wonderful example of bi-partisan support. New Hampshire has long history as a frugal state, so most of the funding for this project was raised through private donations, spearheaded by the non-profit organization Friends of Bridges House. We could not have done this project without the generous support of the vendors and craftsmen who partnered with us to made this kitchen possible -- and who made it as beautiful as it turned out.
