This kitchen in an historic New England bungalow includes a charming mix of new and salvaged pieces
This kitchen combines paint with antique pine for the cabinets. The antique pine cabinetry was made by our own shop using wood salvaged by the owner.
This kitchen still uses many of the original 60's era "contemporary" birch cabinets. We modified and rearranged a few of them, and refreshed the finish on all of them. New zinc countertop, modern appliances, tile backsplash and a new custom pedestal table from our own shop completed the project.
The sink itself is a genuine antique -- complete with original soap dish. We added new soapstone counters at both sides...
We used the owner's salvaged old wide boards to build the refrigerator cabinet to appear like an old batten door.
The owner had some great old wide boards left over from an earlier house project that included some unusual diagonal "dutchman" patches, which we decided to feature in the island countertop and several of the cabinets.
Vintage Custom Cabinetry built a custom birdseye maple sink base to accomodate the owner's salvaged antiue soapstone sink.
One of the two original pantries adjacent to the new kitchen
The salvaged soapstone sink came with the drainboards and backsplash.
We designed the new Signature cabinetry and molding details to reflect the existing pantry style, and the material for this wood top was also from the owner's salvage stock.
